$75,000 grant supports YAP’s 2013 Summer Work & Learn Program

YAP Crew from Manchester 2011

The Tutorial Center has recently received a $75,000 grant from the Vermont Dept. of Labor to support our YAP! 2013 Summer Work & Learn program. Summer Work & Learn is an active, hands-on, 8-week summer experience in which youth ages 16-21 build work skills, develop personal and interpersonal skills, and gain work experience by creating and tending food gardens, completing community gardening projects, donating food to the needy through community organizations such as Meals on Wheels, and selling food at farmers’ markets. Youth work crews for the summer of 2013 will be formed in Bennington, Manchester, and for the first time in Danby, Vt.

What we hear...

“I had my first child at the age of 14. I recently graduated from Bridge to College and am currently working full-time on an Associate’s Degree in Business. Thank you so much, Tutorial Center, for having made this opportunity available. To anyone else for whom this chance comes along, take it. You will not regret it.”
