Let’s Get Our Garden on!

Manchester Community and Educational Garden Volunteer Service Day

Saturday April 27, 9 am

gardn day-9043Come help ready our Community Garden for the 2013 growing season. Help refresh the site and meet some fun people, too. Each year, gardeners from throughout the area use this community resource to grow fresh, organic food for their families. Plus, a large amount of food grown here is donated to Meals on Wheels and families in need.

You can help with garden plot clean-up, deer fence maintenance, mulching, wood-chip pathway repair and creation, grass/weed removal, removing stones, creation of a new composting bin, tilling. There are tasks large and small for all interests, skills and abilities.

Meet at the Manchester Community and Educational Garden site, at the back end of the Dana Thompson Recreation Center near the Rod and Gun Club. Please park in the regular Rec Center parking lots, not the Rod and Gun Club lot.

Bring work gloves and tools if you can: rakes, shovels, pitchforks, hammers, wheelbarrows.

We appreciate your helping hands!

What we hear...

“[The student] has made significant gains in reading. Her MAP reading score in September was 156 and on the first percentile. We have just finished our spring testing and she is now on the 45th percentile with a score of 188. She is now performing at grade level. All around, she is much happier and confident. Her parents and I can see a big difference in attitude.”
